Having trouble connecting Clyro to your Shopify store? Here's how to fix common connection issues.

Common Connection Issues

1. "Store Not Found" Error

If you see this error when trying to connect:

  • Check your store URL: Make sure you're entering just your store name, not the full URL (e.g., "mystore" not "mystore.myshopify.com")
  • Verify store exists: Try accessing your-store.myshopify.com directly in a browser
  • Check spelling: Store names are case-sensitive

2. Permission Denied

This usually means the Shopify permissions weren't fully granted:

  1. 1.Go to your Shopify admin
  2. 2.Navigate to Settings then Apps and sales channels
  3. 3.Find Clyro in the list
  4. 4.If it's there, remove it
  5. 5.Reinstall Clyro from scratch
  6. 6.Make sure to approve all requested permissions

3. Theme Access Issues

Clyro needs access to your theme files. If you're seeing theme-related errors:

  • Verify you have a theme installed (not just a development theme)
  • Make sure the theme isn't password protected in a way that blocks API access
  • Check that theme editing isn't restricted in your Shopify plan

4. Session Expired

If your Clyro session expires:

  1. 1.Log out of Clyro
  2. 2.Log back in through your Shopify admin
  3. 3.Re-authorize if prompted

Reconnecting Your Store

If your connection was lost, here's how to reconnect:

  1. 1.Log into your Shopify admin
  2. 2.Go to Apps then Clyro
  3. 3.Click "Reconnect Store" or reinstall the app
  4. 4.Follow the connection prompts
  5. 5.Approve all permission requests

Important: Reconnecting won't affect your edit history or credits. Your account data is preserved.

Checking Connection Status

To verify your connection is working:

  1. 1.Go to your Clyro dashboard
  2. 2.Look for the connection status indicator (usually in the header or settings)
  3. 3.Green = Connected
  4. 4.Red/Yellow = Connection issue

Network-Related Issues

Sometimes the issue is network-related:

  • Firewall: Ensure your firewall allows connections to Clyro and Shopify APIs
  • VPN: Try disabling your VPN temporarily
  • Ad blockers: Some ad blockers can interfere with app connections
  • Browser extensions: Try in incognito mode without extensions

Shopify-Side Checks

Verify these settings in your Shopify admin:

App Permissions

  1. 1.Go to Settings then Apps and sales channels
  2. 2.Click on Clyro
  3. 3.Review "App permissions"
  4. 4.Ensure "Theme read/write" is listed

Store Status

  • Make sure your store isn't paused
  • Verify your Shopify subscription is active
  • Check that you're not in development mode with restricted API access

After Reconnecting

Once reconnected, we recommend:

  1. 1.Test with a simple edit to confirm everything works
  2. 2.Check your edit history to ensure it's still accessible
  3. 3.Review your theme selection is correct
