Applied changes but don't see them on your store? Here's how to fix it.
Most Common Cause: Browser Cache
Your browser stores copies of web pages to load them faster. This means you might be seeing an old cached version of your store.
How to Clear Your Cache
Quick method (works in most browsers):
- •Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + R
- •Mac: Cmd + Shift + R
Alternatively, try opening your store in an incognito/private window to see the latest version.
Other Common Causes
1. Wrong Theme Active
Make sure the theme you're editing is your live (published) theme:
- 1.Go to your Shopify admin
- 2.Navigate to Online Store then Themes
- 3.Check which theme shows as "Current theme"
- 4.Verify it matches the theme connected to Clyro
Note: If you're editing an unpublished theme, changes won't appear on your live store until you publish that theme.
2. Edit Was Only Previewed
There's a difference between previewing and applying:
- •Preview: Temporary view only (not saved)
- •Apply: Permanently saves to your theme
Check your History to confirm the edit was applied, not just previewed.
3. Shopify CDN Delay
Shopify uses a content delivery network (CDN) that sometimes takes a few minutes to update. If you just applied changes:
- •Wait 2-5 minutes
- •Hard refresh your browser
- •Check again
4. Page-Specific Changes
Some changes only affect certain pages:
- •Product page edits: Only show on product pages
- •Collection page edits: Only show on collection pages
- •Homepage edits: Only show on your homepage
Make sure you're viewing the right page type.
5. Device-Specific Changes
Some changes are responsive (different on mobile vs desktop):
- •If you made a "mobile only" change, check on a mobile device
- •If you made a "desktop only" change, check on a desktop browser
- •Use browser dev tools to simulate different screen sizes
6. Third-Party App Override
Some Shopify apps inject their own code that can override theme changes:
- •Review apps may control review sections
- •Popup apps may control popups
- •Slider apps may control image sliders
If an element is controlled by an app, you may need to style it through that app's settings.
Verification Steps
- 1.Go to your Clyro dashboard
- 2.Click on "History"
- 3.Find your recent edit
- 4.Confirm it shows as "Applied"
- 5.Click "View" to see the expected result
Still Not Appearing?
If you've verified the edit was applied but still don't see changes:
- 1.Try viewing your store from a different device
- 2.Ask a friend to check your store (they won't have cache)
- 3.Check if any Shopify apps might be overriding your changes
- 4.Contact support with your store URL and the specific change you're looking for
Pro tip: Use Chrome DevTools (F12) to disable cache while troubleshooting. Go to Network tab and check "Disable cache" (only works while DevTools is open).
