If your edit isn't working as expected, don't worry. There are usually simple explanations and fixes.
Common Reasons Edits Don't Work
1. The Edit Preview vs. Applied Edit
Remember that previewing an edit and applying an edit are different:
- •Preview: Shows you what the edit would look like (free)
- •Apply: Actually saves the changes to your theme (uses credits)
If you previewed an edit but didn't click "Apply Changes," the edit won't be saved to your store.
2. Prompt Too Vague
Vague prompts can lead to unexpected results:
Instead of:
"Make it look better"
Try:
"Change the header background to navy blue and make the font white"
3. Conflicting Instructions
Some requests contradict each other:
- •"Make the button bigger but don't change its size"
- •"Center the text and align it left"
- •"Remove the header but keep the navigation"
If your prompt contains conflicting instructions, Clyro may not be able to interpret your intent correctly.
4. Element Doesn't Exist
Clyro can only edit elements that exist in your theme:
- •If your theme doesn't have an announcement bar, "change the announcement bar color" won't work
- •First add the element, then modify it
5. Theme Limitations
Some themes have limitations on what can be changed:
- •Certain elements may be locked or hardcoded
- •Some sections may not support specific modifications
- •Third-party apps may control certain elements
Quick Fixes to Try
Rephrase Your Prompt
Try describing the same change differently:
"Make the header sticky"
Could also be phrased as
"Fix the header at the top of the screen when scrolling"
Break It Down
Complex edits work better when broken into steps:
- 1.Make one change at a time
- 2.Verify each change works
- 3.Then move to the next change
Be More Specific
Add more details about what you want:
- •Specify exact colors (hex codes like #FF5733)
- •Specify exact sizes (24px, 2rem)
- •Describe exactly which element you mean
Use the Advanced Model
For complex edits, switch to the Advanced AI model:
- 1.Click the model selector in the command bar
- 2.Select "Advanced"
- 3.Resubmit your prompt
Tip: The Advanced model costs more credits but handles complex requests better. Use it when the Basic model isn't understanding your request.
