Webflow, Wix or Squarespace to Shopify: How to Migrate and Keep Your Design

Stores move to Shopify for the same reasons every year: checkout that converts, the app ecosystem, and infrastructure that scales past what site builders handle. The migration guides cover products and orders well. What they skim over is the part people actually dread: your design does not come with you.

Here is the honest map of what transfers, what does not, and how to keep the look you spent years refining.

What transfers easily

  • Products: CSV export/import, or migration apps (Matrixify and similar) for bigger catalogs, variants and images included.
  • Customers and orders: same route, apps handle the mapping.
  • Domain: point it at Shopify when you flip; email stays wherever it lives.
  • Content: blog posts move via apps or copy-paste; URL redirects preserve your SEO (map old paths to new ones in Shopify's URL redirects).

What does not transfer: the design

Webflow, Wix and Squarespace each render pages with their own proprietary systems. Shopify themes are Liquid. There is no converter in any direction, so every migration guide quietly ends with "choose a Shopify theme that resembles your old site", which is how brands lose their look in a migration.

The 2026 answer is better: rebuild the design from screenshots. Capture your existing pages, hand them to Clyro, and it regenerates the layout as a real Shopify theme, sections, schemas, your typography and spacing, editable in the theme editor afterwards. The clone-a-store page covers the mechanics; it works the same whether the source is your own Webflow site or a reference you admire.

Platform notes

Webflow to Shopify. The hardest goodbye, because Webflow design freedom is why you chose it. The screenshot-rebuild route preserves exactly that freedom's output; the theme generator keeps it editable going forward.

Wix to Shopify. Usually motivated by outgrowing Wix's commerce. Products via CSV or apps; expect to re-shoot your URL structure and set redirects.

Squarespace to Shopify. Brands leaving for real variant handling and apps. Squarespace's design registers (editorial, whitespace-heavy) rebuild particularly well as custom themes; a template rarely matches them, which is why migrators feel the downgrade.

The migration order that works

  1. Set up Shopify (plan, payments, taxes, shipping) behind the scenes.
  2. Import products, then customers/orders.
  3. Rebuild the design from screenshots of your current site; refine by chatting until it matches.
  4. Map URL redirects for every old path that had traffic.
  5. Test checkout end to end, then point the domain.

FAQ

Can I convert my Webflow/Wix/Squarespace site into a Shopify theme? Not by export: the systems are incompatible. You rebuild, and AI rebuilds from screenshots make that hours instead of an agency project.

Will I lose my Google rankings when migrating? Not if you map 301 redirects from every old URL to its new equivalent and keep your content. Rankings survive migrations that respect URLs.

Do I need a developer to migrate? For products/orders, no: apps cover it. For the design, that used to be the developer line item; generation from screenshots is the replacement.
