Are AI store builders legitimate?
The category earned its skepticism, so it is worth separating what is actually being sold. Three very different things go by this name:
Hosted store generators
You describe a store and get one on the provider's platform, assembled from templates. Fast, and fine until you want to change something the template does not expose, or leave with your design. Many in this bracket are aimed at dropshipping and bundle a course or a community with the tool.
Content AI
Shopify Magic and similar: product descriptions, email copy, admin help. Genuinely useful and genuinely not a store builder. It writes text inside a theme somebody else designed.
