Every Shopify storefront exposes its theme in public page data. This tool reads that data to report the theme the store is running, even when the merchant has renamed it on the frontend.

Why does it say 'custom / renamed'?
Merchants can rename their theme. If the store isn't using a stock Theme Store theme (or renamed it), we show the name the storefront reports.
Does it work on any store?
It works on any public Shopify store. Non-Shopify or headless sites won't return a theme.
How do I find out what theme a Shopify store is using?

Can I detect the theme of a non-Shopify site?
No. The tool reads data that only Shopify storefronts expose. A WooCommerce, BigCommerce or fully headless site returns nothing, which is itself a useful signal that the store is not on Shopify.
